What is the difference between hft and ft

With 16x scope you can. Yes, just as the Archery 3D guys now have a "known" class where yardage is provided for the shooter I have a "Known" class at my field target events. Not many people shoot that class but we have some older guys that only shoot offhand. They have inexpensive scopes that are around power and they are just out there for fun. I have separate scorecards that have the distances for each target written in each scoring box. I haven't had a shoot yet that any of these guys beat the regular shooters but anyone can shoot any class as a known shooter if that makes it more fun for them.

They just get scored separately. I get that , makes sense.. We dont use range finders in HFT , its all done by eye , in FT they use these nuts high powered scopes that you can PX in and get the distance , I have looked at one at a comp , a March 80 mag scope and OMG , it was nuts! You could PX it right into the yardage to within one yard.. Loved it. I have often thought about range finding the whole course , writing the range down for everyone and seeing if they score more.

It sounds like they would but to be honest , when only running Its difficult as you like the its windy and you are like holding off maybe 3 mill dots.. Really great feeling when you nail one though! Love it! What type of racing? If it is F1, and you get to Austin, TX please let us know.

I would enjoy meeting you for a beer and having good conversation, as I'm sure others in that area of TX would as well. I love it!! Next time I am there buddy lets defo have a beer and they are on me!!! I love the states , I drove from Miami to LA last time I was there with some racing buddies and got to do a bunch of shooting and loads of other stuff.

Best trip I have ever had. I cant wait tot get back if the truth be told , at least then I can get get some slugs from my Red Wolf … you just cant get them in the UK. Such a shame. Wen to the track there with McLaren , what a place Also Pete's Duelling Piano Bar was one of the most epic night's out ever!!!

I cant wait tot get back if the truth be told , at least then I can get get some slugs from my Red Wolf I am very new, and have not competed yet. I have been practicing with a club in Wisconsin, north central USA , and hope to try it in a few months.

The norm there is 'bucket and sticks' shooting. HFT uses simpler equipment. The ranges and kill zone sizes are the same as FT, but there are several important differences. If the target drops, you score 2 points, if you hit the faceplate, you score 1 point, so the perfect score on our 40 shot HFT course is 80 points.

No one has achieved this either! On each 'lane' of 4 targets you will see a white wooden peg hammered into the ground. Some part of your body must touch the peg. Your trigger finger must be behind the peg. FT seems to be a test of who has the best kit and knowledge of how to use it. HFT is more about who is the better all round shot on the day. At least, that's my interpretation! Pete , Nov 19, NeilnrLincoln , Scott and foxtrott like this. Messages: 6, Likes Received: Location: camberley, surrey.

I don't shoot ft, all the info you need get into hft and if you are lucky will meet me round the circuit Sent from my crystal ball. Messages: 1, Likes Received: Location: Yeovil. If you lose in HFT throw more camo at it Although from my limited knowledge, the best FT shooters don't actually have much more kit than the average HFT shooter really. It's a funny one to me. The way I see it, the rules should be the other way around! Messages: 5, Likes Received: 8, Location: London. I am looking to start FT as my HFT days were knocked on the head still shoot ti but can only manage standing , after a friend asked why didnt I try, and I thought.. Scope is more expensive, as higher mag is needed, but apart from that theres not a huge difference in kit needed. Guloluseus , Nov 21, I am also presuming that since no adjustments are allowed in HFT good scope parallax is crucial?

TrickyDicky , Nov 22, The thing is, though, if you are going to rest the rifle on the deck, you will need a certain sort of gun, or you will need to make a few modifications. As a rule of thumb, to rest the rifle on the deck and be able to shoot properly and safely, you need at least 10 inches between the point of the rifle that touches the floor and the top of the comb. A rifle like the HW, with its normal stock, has a distances of about six inches and this will make it almost impossible to rest the rifle on the deck and get your head on the comb.

If you are going to shoot from the shoulder, then a HW KT or S will give you the same level of rifle accuracy, and will enable you to save a few pounds to put toward some quality glass. No matter what you want, then I must recommend getting down to a quality gun shop. In Essex, we are blessed with the Airgun Centre , in Rayleigh, and if you go in there and speak to Ben, Peter or Terry, they will guide you — and if you ask nicely, you can even lie down and try the rifle prone.
